When I first came here in 65, all they did was make the passport, bog standard passport and travel to Leeds-Bradford airport. That were it, no Visa nothing. My father was living here, He sponsored us. He send us a sponsor letter saying I want my wife and children here with me.
My father came here in 61. He first came to Coventry where one of my village person was living. He sent air ticket to my father. See that’s how people was, so close. No relationship just to from village people. He knew my father and he send my father air ticket. My father had passport so my father came to Coventry to live with him. That guy was so good, he said ‘Look you young man and I old man’ He old man, he was about 60 then. ‘Look I can’t cook for you. I work in bakery I get you plenty of loaf, bread, teacakes whatever you want and get you eggs from shop.’
