As well as meeting weekly, the Men's Luncheon group also takes day trips. On the 24th August 2006, several members of the Men's Luncheon group, and some of the younger members of the Hamara Centre, climbed onto the Centre's minibus to head out to Scarborough for the day.
Some of the group had been to Scarborough before, but for some it was their first visit to Scarborough and for some their first visit to the seaside.
After a few set backs, Leeds Festival traffic, car accidents and the missing petrol cap key, the group arrived in Scarborough in time to find somewhere pleasant for a picnic lunch.
The afternoon was filled with gentle strolls up and down the promenade, lunch and buying presents and rock for grandchildren.
The opportunity for paddling was not taken up by anybody, though some were quite keen on donkey rides.
