There are lots of different, exciting elements to the My Place project including plenty of opportunities to volunteer.

School engagement From January 2013, the My Place project offices began delivering sessions on local history topics looking at census records, migration, the world of work, clothing and much more to over 600 Key Stage 2-3 students at 20 schools across Bradford and Keighley. In June, a selection of pupils will have the chance to take part in geophysics surveying of Bolling Hall and Cliffe Castle to determine what lies beneath the surface. Other groups of students will take part in drama interpretation workshops to create a unique performance for the My Place celebration events in July.

Oral History To enhance the project\'s findings and the experiences of the students, My Place is looking to collect memories of Bradford and Keighley, especially Bolling Hall and Cliffe Castle. Take a look at the following pages to hear a selection of the oral histories we have gathered.

Archaeology For two weeks at each hub (Bolling Hall and Cliffe Castle), school students and members of the local community will have the opportunity to work with our organisation\'s professional archaeologists to uncover hidden treasures.

Want to volunteer with My Place? Throughout the next two years, we are offering members of the public the chance to help out with any of the above activities - oral history, archaeology, events. What are the benefits???

  • Voluntary experience looks great on your CV
  • Meet new people and take part in fun activities
  • Learn new skills and improve personal development
  • Participate in a professional archaeological dig and oral history work

If you would like to get involved, we would be delighted to hear from you. You can decided on what you would like to do and the level of commitment you are willing to offer.
