The Ravensthorpe Community Heritage Project is a partnership initiative between West Yorkshire Joint Services, (including Archaeological Services ASWYAS and West Yorkshire Archive Service), Kirklees Council, Kirklees Libraries at the Greenwood Centre, the Church Urban Fund and the Dewsbury Area Committee.

The project focuses on community cohesion and aims to promote a sense of pride and ownership amongst the residents of Ravensthorpe. The initiative aims to support local communities in bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to explore the history of their community, using a range of interlinked, practical, creative and hands-on activities linked to the history and background of the local neighbourhood, giving people a stronger sense of pride in and belonging to their local community heritage.
There are various activities involved with this project including archaeological excavations in the grounds of the Greenwood Centre and archaeological and heritage trails throughout the first two weeks in July.
