The photograph shows a group from the St. David's Society who had been received by Lord Mayor Alan Hilary in the Lord Mayor's Rooms, on the morning of 1st March, 2004.

It has become a recognised part of the Society's program to visit City Hall on St. David's day and to present the Lord Mayor with a cheque for his designated charities. Also it is arranged that the Welsh dragon flies alongside the Union Jack on March 1st, and the carillon plays Welsh tunes, such as "Men of Harlech" during the morning.

In the evening, the society holds its annual dinner (Gwyl Dewi Sant). In recent years, the dinner has been held in the Midland Hotel, Bradford. There was a time when the Lord Mayor was always invited to these dinners, however in the last 20 years they have been invited occasionally, but it is no longer automatic that they come.

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress were invited in 2002 because it was the centenary dinner of the Society. In 2004, Lord Mayor Alan Hilary was invited because he was known to Deiniol Williams. It is almost certain that Lord Mayor Mrs. Valerie Binney will be invited in 2006 because she is known to Mr. Robert Williams, who is the President of the Society for 2005-6.
