Thornhill Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels is a central part of the local community.

Thornhill Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels is a central part of the local community. It serves not only to support and guide its congregation by working with groups of all ages, including children and young people, but also to encourage participation through a range of creative and artisitic events, such as its annual Summer Fair.

A church in Thornhill was first documented in the Doomsday Book of 1086 but it is thought that a place of worship may have existed since the 9th century, given the Anglo-Saxon memorials on the site. The current church building was erected between 1877-1879 by the architect G E Street and restored in 2001, providing more modern facilities to serve the local community.
