Your source for up to date and relevant news for community heritage in the region. Got some news about your group you would like to share? let us know....


Explore the history of West Yorkshire through the experience of those that live here. Listen to the memories, read the stories and share photographs and images. Anyone can host their community collection FREE here, just contact us and we'll show you how or go to the contribute tab above. So if you have reminiscences, oral history's, photograph and/or archive collections you want to share can help.


The location of all collections that are uploaded to will be displayed on our community collections map. You can use this section of the website to research a specific place or find out about groups near you.


West Yorkshire Archive Service has developed an Accreditation Scheme for community archives to both champion the high quality work already happening and set a benchmark for best practice. The Accreditation scheme consists of a pack of resources and corrosponding checklists broken down into seven different sections. This website strives to provide information and support for all forms of communtiy groups working with heritage and archives. You might be thinking about setting up a group in your local area and need some start up tips, maybe you have been running for a while but would like to branch out into new areas such as digitisation. Whatever you're here for we have information, advice and hints and tips for all aspects of your work. We have training resources, podcasts and information sheets all of which will be updated, so keep on checking back!


Here at we think that sharing is caring. The Network section of the website has been created for you to share, learn and inform others about what your group is doing. You can create your own profile with information about your group, and use the message boards to ask a question to the wider community. First step is to sign up here!
