The My Place project is a new initiative helping young people to explore their local heritage in Bradford and Keighley, and is being run by West Yorkshire Joint Services Community Engagement team in partnership with Bradford Museums and Galleries. We are funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The My Place project has been working in schools in Bradford and Keighley from the new year, delivering sessions on everything to do with local history - from census records to mapping, the mill trade to health and hygiene.

We have had a fantastic time working with young people across Bradford and Keighley schools, helping them to creat their own personal archives, ready to be displayed over the summer.

We will be carrying out archaeological digs at Bolling Hall and Cliffe Castle over June and July 2013 with school pupils and members of the local community. Supported by professional archaeologists, we hope to unearth some fascinating historical artefacts.

From oral history to archaeology and summer events, there is lots to get involved with. If you would like to volunteer with us or would like to know more, please contact Rachel (for Bradford) at rtapp@wyjs.org.uk or Hayley (for Keighley) at hbriggs1@wyjs.org.uk.
