The Network Group offers community groups the opportunity to get together with similar organisations and individuals to not only share knowledge and information but also to receive professional advice.
We will be holding Network Group meetings every two months, which will travel around the five districts of West Yorkshire (Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds and Wakefield). These will not only present the chance to gather new contacts but also to receive training and guidance. Our first meeting was held at the West Yorkshire Archive Service office in Bradford Central Library on Wednesday 17th February and we would like to express our thanks to those who came along.
Here are the proposed meetings for the rest of 2010:
Wednesday 14th April 10am-1pm West Yorkshire Archive Service Wakefield office - Here we will be discussing the legacy of the Commanet website and our Wakefield staff will be providing a tour of the Conservation Department and a short talk on the Registry of Deeds.
Wednesday 16th June 10am-1pm at a location in central Leeds - During this meeting we will concentrate on the Sporting Heroes section of our project, details of which are to follow!
Wednesday 18th August 10am-1pm West Yorkshire Archive Service Huddersfield office (in Huddersfield Central Library) - This will give groups and individuals the opportunity to showcase their work and upcoming projects.
Wednesday 13th October 10am-1pm venue tbc - This will give the chance to have your say in the accreditation scheme we are producing as part of the West Yorkshire Our Stories project.
Wednesday 15th December 10am-1pm venue tbc - Christmas party!
Anyone is welcome to join us and we would be delighted to see you. If you would like to come along, please contact Rachel at rtapp@wyjs.org.uk or (0113) 2898 223.
We will also be creating an online Network Group community for those who cannot attend meetings or would like to keep in touch on a more regular basis. This online community will be developed by August 2010.
